Yap chat is how a lot of people describe fast, low-stakes talk with someone new: no agenda, no profile to impress, just back and forth. On Yapping that is text mode in a nutshell. Every match is a single person, and every chat is over the moment either of you taps next.

- Ask about their clock: is it breakfast or bedtime where they are?
- Throw out a silly either-or, like cats or dogs, final answer.
- Look at their country on the card and ask what outsiders always get wrong about it.
- Skip the robotic age-and-location opener. Their card already shows both, so use it and ask something better.
When they reply in a language you cannot read
Text is where the translate button really earns its place. Each typed message carries one; tap it and the words appear in your own language. It will not be poetry, but it is more than enough to keep things moving with someone on another continent.
The card at the top of the chat shows their language before either of you types anything, so you know roughly what is coming. A hello in their language, even a clumsy one, tends to get a very warm reply.
Curious what your chat partner looks like?
Text mode stays text for the whole match; there is no button that turns a typed chat into a call halfway through. If a conversation makes you curious, end it, set your mode to video chat and start a fresh match.
When it is one particular person you want to see, follow them from their profile. After that they turn up in the Who's online list, where a private call with them can be requested for coins.
Typed does not mean anything goes
A keyboard makes some people braver than they would ever be on camera. The rules stay the same: no harassment, no hate, no explicit messages and no pestering anyone for their socials. Our community guidelines cover the rest in plain words.

A quiet reminder for your own sake, too: a stranger asking for money, a verification code or a move to another app is a warning sign, however friendly the chat felt.

Is Yapping text chat free?
Every newcomer gets free matches to start, and a countdown in the Reward Center keeps adding to them. Once both are used, matching costs coins.
Do I need a camera for Yapping text chat?
No. Text mode never touches your camera or microphone, so it works on any device that has a browser.
Can Yapping translate messages for me?
Yes. Press translate beneath a typed message and it switches into your language, handy when a match writes in a script you cannot read.
Will a typed chat ever switch over to camera?
Not inside the same match. End the text chat, choose video as your mode and start over; for one specific person, follow them and request a private call instead.
Is Yapping text chat anonymous?
You chat under a nickname, and your match only sees card details such as nickname, age, country and language. Yapping does keep account and chat records, so think of it as private rather than invisible.
Someone got rude over text. What now?
Report them from the chat screen, then press next. The report goes straight to our team, so there is no need to argue or collect screenshots first.
Can I use Yapping text chat on my phone?
