Yapping only works when strangers can trust each other a little. These are the rules that make that possible, and what happens when someone decides to ignore them.
Everything we ask, on one card
The long version, with examples, lives in the community guidelines. This is the version you can remember.
- Be 18 or older. No exceptions, and no almost.
- Keep clothes on and content clean, on camera and in messages.
- No harassment, threats, hate or bullying, whatever the other person said first.
- No scams, spam, selling, or asking strangers for money.
- No pressuring people to hand over socials, numbers or addresses.
- No recording or sharing someone else's chat without their consent.
Eighteen means eighteen
Everyone confirms they are 18 or older before using Yapping, and the rule holds in every mode and every room. If a match looks or sounds like a kid, do not keep chatting to be polite. Report them, press next, and let the reviewers take it from there; an account that turns out to belong to a minor is closed.
Parents or guardians who come across a child's account can email support with the nickname and anything else that helps us find it, and it will be reviewed.
One rulebook for every corner of Yapping
The rules do not loosen when the camera goes off. They cover video, voice and text matches, private one-to-one calls, live rooms and the room chat beside them, direct messages between people who follow each other, and the nicknames and photos on profiles.
That last part catches people out. A nickname built to shock, or a profile photo that would break the rules on camera, gets removed just like a bad chat would. If you would not show it to a stranger face to face, leave it off your profile too.

How reporting works
Every video, voice and text chat screen has a report button, and so does every live room. Tap it while the chat is still open, pick a reason, and the report reaches our safety team along with the details of that session. Then press next; you do not have to stick around and deal with the person.
Reports are read by people rather than filed away. Our team looks at what came in and decides what to do about it. The person you reported is never told who reported them.
Reports that give reviewers what they need
A report filed while the chat is still open carries the details of that session with it, which is why the button beats a screenshot every time. Pick the reason that fits best rather than the first one on the list; it gives whoever reviews it a head start.
Have more to add, or did the trouble carry on in messages afterwards? Email support with your nickname, the other person's nickname if you caught it, and a rough time. Short and factual beats long and angry. Please do not hit back in the chat itself. Answering abuse with abuse can put your own account on the wrong side of the rules.
What happens to someone who breaks the rules
It depends on how serious it was. A first minor slip may mean a warning. Repeated rudeness or spam leads to restrictions. Explicit content with strangers, threats, scams and anything involving minors mean a permanent ban, plus a referral to the police or other authorities whenever the law calls for one.
Banned users lose access to their account, including any coins still in it. That is deliberate: breaking the rules should cost the person who does it, not the people they target.

Coins stay inside Yapping, and so do payments
Coins are bought through the top-up screen in Yapping and nowhere else. They pay for matches once your free ones run out, for private calls, for gifts and for ticketed live rooms. Nobody you meet has any reason to ask you for cash, a bank transfer or a gift card, and asking is itself against the rules.
Yapping is careful with your balance on its own side as well. A paid call will not start on an empty balance; you are sent to top up first. Every gift asks for confirmation before it goes out. Sites that promise free coins in exchange for a login are scams, and anything they collect goes straight to someone you will never meet.
Nobody gets your camera without your say
You pick the mode before each match. Choose voice or text and your camera stays off for that whole chat, whoever you land with and however they ask. Choose video and you can still end things in a single tap if a match makes you uncomfortable.
Consent also covers what happens after a chat. Recording someone, screenshotting their face to post elsewhere or sharing their messages without permission all break the rules, and reports about it are treated as seriously as anything said live.
Appeals get a fresh pair of eyes
Our team gets things wrong now and then, and we would rather own that than dig in. If a restriction on your account looks unfair, send us a note through the contact page titled Appeal, mention your nickname and describe briefly what happened. A reviewer who had nothing to do with the original decision goes over it again.
What we keep, and why we keep it
To run matches, balances and safety reviews, Yapping keeps account details, records of matches and messages, and reports. We use them to operate the service and protect people, not to sell. What are the Yapping rules?

What gets you banned on Yapping?
Explicit content with strangers, harassment, threats, scams and anything involving minors. Repeated smaller offences can end in a ban too.
How do I appeal a Yapping ban?
Send support an email titled Appeal that includes your nickname and your side of the story. It goes to a reviewer who was not involved the first time.
Do I get my coins back if I am banned?
No. Coins in an account banned for breaking the rules are forfeited, which is part of what makes the rules stick.
Does Yapping check ages?
Everyone has to confirm they are 18 or older to use Yapping. If an account looks like it belongs to someone younger, we review it and shut it down.
Do the Yapping rules apply in live rooms and messages?
Yes. The same rulebook covers random matches, private calls, live rooms, direct messages and what people put on their profiles.
Can someone on Yapping ask me for money?
They should not, and asking breaks the rules. Coins are only bought through the top-up screen in Yapping, so report anyone who asks for cash, transfers or gift cards and press next.
What should I do if I feel unsafe after a chat?
Stop replying, unfollow the person if you followed them, and email us with what happened. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first.
